Exhibition:
SOFT SOLIDS KLAIPĖDA
The exhibition explores how everyday objects can move towards a more sustainable approach while, bringing us a little closer to nature.
The works are the result of curiosity-driven research: wax becomes an unexpected medium for artificial light. The light objects gain heat resistance, strength, optimal light diffusion, and a distinctive tactile quality.
Wax compounds possess unique properties - from an amorphous mass they can transform into a tangible form, and then return again to a flexible, even fluid state. These blends are shaped into biomorphic, sculptural light shades. By day, the objects appear as solid whites. As darkness falls, artificial light reveals the organic, plant-based origins of each element.
The wax objects respond to today’s necessary call to expand ecological boundaries through the use of renewable resources. They invite us to see how natural materials can be adapted to open possibilities for regeneration. Each piece becomes a dialogue between light and a specially developed organic wax blend.
The Soft Solids wax-light objects presented in the exhibition open a dialogue between resilience and fragility, functionality and sustainability.
